Fishkeeping: Day 9, Part 1

In the morning I dropped a very small pinch of food in the tank and watched the 3 peck away it until it was all gone. Everything I read said that overfeeding is a common mistake, so I didn't put anymore food in even though they had finished everything.

Bender hiding behind the filter
I came home from work to the happy family as usual, but something was amiss in the tank. The Danio's, Leela and Fry were hanging out in front still as stone and I couldn't find the Tetra, Bender. After a couple seconds of searching I saw his face in a reflection from behind the filter. As it turns out, my son had been terrorizing them by trying to catch them. I quickly spoke with my son and told him how the fish are scared and need some peace and quite while they are adjusting to their new environment.

I then gave him an opportunity to help and let him feed the fish. I gave him the baggy of flakes, he took a little pinch and dropped it in the tank. We sat back and watched the Leela and Fry (the Danio's) go into a feeding frenzy. DC was amazed and loving the exuberant fish swim around the tank. After a minute or two, Bender (the Penguin Tetra) came out from behind the filter and started pecking away.

When the fish were done, we turned our attention to feeding ourselves...
